Types of Acne

Introduction: We often term breakouts as acne, but this common perception is far from the truth. Different types of acne can only be determined by a careful examination of the skin. Each type of acne has its medication, treatment, and remedial measure. Find out which one you need as per your acne type:

  1. Non-inflammatory acne: These are comedones that do not swell. Blackheads and whiteheads are common non-inflammatory acne that can be cured by using any skin care product infused with Salicylic acid.

  2. Inflammatory acne: These are the swollen pimples that turn red with inflammation. Usually caused by the bacteria trapped inside the clogged pores, inflammatory acne can be:

  • Papules (hard, clogged pores)

  • Pustules (Pus-filled bumps on the skin)

  • Nodules (Large, clogged pores)

  • Cysts (red/white, painful bumps)

While non-inflammatory acne is very mild, inflammatory ones are severe and stubborn that might require medical intervention.

Conclusion: Deep cleaning the skin with a gentle cleanser is a boon for acne-prone skin. For stubborn acne marks, an effective acne spot treatment can be used.
